Patti Smith on her new photography exhibition. Her new album, due out next year, features Johnny Depp, of all people, on guitar. “Johnny’s a great musician,” says Smith, who in person is precise and watchful. “Patti Smith: Camera Solo” opens at the Wadsworth Atheneum in Hartford, CT, and is on view through February 19, 2012; thewadsworth.org

~ Net Sculptures ~

We’re talking about  Janet Echelman‘s massive moving net sculptures. Her colorful projects draw inspiration from ancient craft and modern technology, using machine and hand woven UV-resistant fibers and collaborating with local engineers and architects. Each sculpture physically responds to environmental forces like wind, water, and sunlight which makes them so magical and magnificent. Check out the rest of her work and their locations here.

~ Louboutin F/W 2011 by Peter Lippman ~

12 Sep
For his new collection Fall / Winter 2011-12 Christian Louboutin  decided to “marry” fashion and art and therefore collaborated with the photographer Peter Lippmann. The result of this unique collaboration is female portraits inspired by well-known works of art, which celebrate the power of femininity. Works by famous artists such as Whistler, Benoit and Clouet, parading in front of Lippmann’ s camera and we admire a new, modern version with a dominant element, what else but shoes with the Louboutin signature .
