Chanel’s upcoming Métiers d’Art would be shown in the Austrian city of Salzburg, where where Gabrielle Chanel designed the brand’s infamous little black jacket in the 50’s, having been inspired by the uniform of a lift attendant in a Salzburg hotel. The question is if some traditional Austrian fashion will be thrown in. After all, we got a touch of Texas when last year’s show was presented in Dallas. This perfectly timed announcement coincided with Chanel releasing the campaign images for its Cruise collection, which was presented in Dubai earlier this year, photographed by Karl Lagerfeld himself, features Joan Smalls and Chanel favourite Hudson Kroenig. TAke a look after the jump…!

~ Banquet at Chanel ~

Chanel Pre-Fall 12/13

The guests at the Chanel show were treated with a banquet while they enjoyed a show inspired by jewels, colours and fabrics of India. The dreadlock updos and nose rings added a nice touch too. Just all round amazingness.

~ Life Aquatic ~

Beneath the soaring glass domes of the Grand Palais, the Chanel set transported us to the undersea world of Karl Lagerfeld; an aquatic wonderland of gleaming white stingrays and sea horses adrift amongst coral branches and shells on a sandy sea bed. Lagerfeld had promised “the ground of the sea, but in a very poetic way,” and his models, meandering through this dramatic set to a techno soundtrack abstracted from Wagner’s “Ride of the Valkyries,” looked like magical deep-sea sirens, from the pearls scattered in their hair to the sea- urchin shells that propped up the heels of their sandals.
