26 SepIt’s a Versace moment. The H&M collaboration is about to crush retail; designer kids everywhere are feeling the Versace vibe. But maybe the most interesting thing about the show today was that people left the house Gianni founded saying, “That was so Donatella.”

26 SepApples, corn, green herbs—they all made appearances, but Jardini had flowers on the menu, too. The show’s best dress was a thigh-grazer in a lamp shade shape dotted with watercolor irises here and there. With most of the frocks just as abbreviated, this was a collection (both lighthearted and a little light in terms of ideas) for the young. Eat your vegetables, kids.

26 SepRock-tastic! There were, in rapid succession, silvered denims, baby dolls and shaggy furs, abstracted animal prints, sinuous plissés, and floaty things for a buccaneer’s babe. Within the obvious budgetary confines of a second label such as Just, Cavalli did manage to incorporate hints of the Florentine artisanship that lends even his most florid work some gravitas. In other words, there were studs, grommets, and some Shakespearean lacing on suedes and leathers. Entry-level Cavallites will eat it up. And the multitudes that sweltered in the enormous show venue suggest their numbers are uncountable.
